Shopping Mallorca
The cream of Mallorca’s shopping is in the capital Palma, where you’ll find stores and boutiques selling stylish clothes and leather goods: everything from designer labels to the latest high street fashion – including well-known Spanish brands Zara (fashions and home), Custo, Desigual and Uterqüe.
For more detailed information about the best shops in Mallorca see our Business Directory: Shops
The most prestigious shopping streets in the city are Avenida Jaime III and Paseo del Borne, but explore the adjoining narrow streets and alleys and you’ll find tempting boutiques like Pinko, Exclusive, Kidama, Miss Zelánea and Bossa.
Want to buy top-brand items? The Paseo del Borne has the impressive three-storey Hugo Boss Store – selling men’s and women’s clothes from the Boss Green, Black and Orange collections. Across the Paseo – in a beautifully restored building – is Louis Vuitton, where you can choose from the covetable collection of bags, luggage and upmarket accessories. Find luxury goods from Cartier and Montblanc in their stores in Palma’s handsome Avenida Jaime III.
If you do plan to go shopping while in Mallorca, a visit to Palma’s gorgeous Rialto Living is a must: featured in a book of the world’s top 50 lifestyle stores, this former cinema and theatre has a stylish café for a relaxing pit-stop during your shopping trip.
Whether you shop online or in person, you’ll want to compare prices; the long winter and summer sales, with their generous discounts, are your chance to pick up some real bargains.
Want an authentic souvenir of the island? Visit Vidrios Gordiola for beautiful glass; one of the many jewellery stores for Mallorca pearls, or La Montaña for local food products. Palma’s two indoor markets – Olivar and Santa Catalina – are a foodie’s heaven.
Outside Palma, most holiday resorts have shops selling souvenirs and typical holiday items – rarely manufactured in Mallorca though. Inland, the large towns of Manacor and Inca (both a train ride from Palma) have decent-sized shopping centres: Manacor is famous for pearls; Inca for its leather goods, available at factory prices in many outlets.
If you like the atmosphere of shopping in bustling markets, you’ll find at least one every morning, somewhere in Mallorca. Check out Manacor (Monday), Artà (Tuesday), Sineu – the island’s largest – or Santanyí (Wednesday), Inca (Thursday), Santa Maria, and the huge flea market at Consell (Sunday). As you’ll discover, there’s plenty of variety when shopping in Mallorca!
